The Vice Minister

Maria Teresa Bellucci is Vice Minister of Labour and Social Policies of the government of the Honourable Giorgia Meloni.

She was born in Rome in 1972. After obtaining a degree in Clinical and Community Psychology, she specialised in Systemic-Relational and Family Psychotherapy and was awarded a second-level master's degree in the Organisation and Functioning of the Public Administration. An academic career that – in addition to leading her to practice the profession of psychologist and psychotherapist and work in academe as an external lecturer in General Psychology at La Sapienza University of Rome – equipped her with new skills to bring to her commitment to the world of volunteering and social promotion, which she began in her adolescence.

In particular, already in her undergraduate years she worked as a volunteer helping children in the care of the social services, victims of abuse, families in situations of adversity, the homeless and shelters for drug addicts. A calling to help others that she continued to follow over the years, leading her to occupy positions such as National President of the Movement of Italian Volunteer Associations, standing member of the National Third Sector Council and member of the National Coordination of the Third Sector Forum. She also gained experience as an administrator in charge of the Department of Educational and School Services of Rome the Capital – Operating Unit for Planning and Monitoring of the Pedagogical System of Services for Ages Zero to Six and Training of Educational and School Personnel.

In 2021 she had the honour of being asked to offer her contribution to the Migrants and Refugees Section of the Department for the Integrated Human Development Service as an expert in the protection of minors.

Before becoming vice minister, she occupied various positions: member of the Chamber of Deputies, group leader of the Fratelli d'Italia party on the Social Affairs Committee, group leader of the Bicameral Childhood and Adolescence Committee and Committee of Inquiry into Family Homes and Illegal Custody, National Head of the Department of Addiction and the Third Sector of the Fratelli d'Italia party.
