
The risks and opportunities of Artificial Intelligence, the impact of demographic trends on the labour market and the need to invest in human capital and skills were the central themes of G7 Labour, whose first technical meeting, opened by Minister of Labour and of Social Policies Marina Calderone was held yesterday and today at the Farnesina, under the Italian Presidency.
The group began the preparatory discussions in view of the meeting of the seven Labour Ministers in Cagliari next September. Working sherpas from the G7 countries participated in the discussions, as well as representatives of the European Commission, the OECD, the ILO, the social partners and civil society engagement groups.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Calderone met with the Deputy Director General of the International Labour Organisation, Celeste Drake, reiterating Italy's firm support for the crucial function carried out by the ILO and for the "Global Coalition for Social Justice".
Special attention was paid to health and safety in the workplace and female empowerment.
