Minister Calderone at FAO

Calderone FAO

The Minister of Labour and Social Policies Marina Calderone spoke at the FAO in the plenary session dedicated to "decent work in agriculture" in the context of the 52nd Session of the CFS, the Committee on World Food Security.

"The fight against labour exploitation and the promotion of decent work are a priority commitment for Italy – said Minister Calderone – which commits us to designing systemic actions and integrated services, and to implementing them territorially". It is, she added, a complex but necessary challenge "to protect the rights of workers and, at the same time, the quality of our production system". All in line with goals 2 and 8 of the 2030 Agenda to "end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture", and at the same time "incentivize lasting, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all".

Minister Calderone then recalled the actions already put in place, from the experience of multi-agency inspection task forces to the training of operators of employment services and social services, from the strengthening of integrated social hubs or single access points to the establishment of an anti-caporalato Help Desk, to individual paths of reintegration to the workforce.
