The National Conference of the Equality Counsellors (consiglieri di parità) at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies

Minister Calderone Equality Counsellors

The National Conference of Equality Counsellors was held at the seat of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies in Via Flavia. Ministers Marina Calderone and Eugenia Roccella expressed their appreciation for the work done nationwide by the counsellors.

The Minister of Labour and Social Policies emphasised the importance of the role of active guidance that the network of equality counsellors provides through their complex and heterogeneous tasks the substance of which are actions aimed at supplying efficacious tools to pursue gender equality. A right yet to be fully attained.

Minister Calderone also urged a shared reflection to avoid new discrimination that AI might bring to bear in the workplace, which is one of the themes of the upcoming G7 Labour Ministerial in Cagliari in September.  A strategic theme, with regards to which the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies has taken charge of the Action Plan for Artificial Intelligence in the world of work – as indicated in the G7 Italy Final Declaration at Borgo Egnazia – with a commitment in a dedicated draft law to establish an observatory in the Ministry on the effects of AI in the labour market.  An invitation was made to the network to be part of a change in paradigm that constitutes new safeguards, in line with the evolution of models of work and the ever-increasing request for a better work/life balance.
