The Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, in collaboration with the INPS and INAIL, is bringing representatives of institutions, social partners, academics and businesses together in Rome to share visions and strategies, experiences and common standards, promoting open dialogue on the opportunities and responsibilities that the adoption of artificial intelligence in the workplace  can bring.  27 February 2026 is intended as a day of dialogue dedicated to the relationship between artificial intelligence and work, within the framework of the national, European and international debate on the ongoing transformations and their governance.

The initiative addresses the issues of public strategies, international standards, strengthening public trust in the use of artificial intelligence in the workplace through transparency, accountability and adequate guarantees, as well as the role of institutions, social partners and businesses in governing technological innovation, including at European and international level.

Starting at 10 a.m., a number of guests will speak at the Hall of the Tempio di Vibia Sabina and Adriano and then also the Angiolillo Hall at Palazzo Wedekind (INPS headquarters) and the Parlamentino of Palazzo Brasini (INAIL headquarters). Speakers will include Roxana Minzatu, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Jean-Pierre Farandou, France's Minister of Labour, Employment and Integration and Bärbel Bas, Germany's Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs.

The introduction to the proceedings by the Italian Minister of Labour and Social Policies, Marina Calderoni, will set the tone for a discussion that will include contributions from Adolfo Urso, Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, Antonella Sberna, Vice-President of the European Parliament, Alberto Barachini, Undersecretary of State to the Prime Minister's Office with responsibility for information and publishing, Stefano Scarpetta, Director for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs at the OECD, who will take up the post of Chief Economist of the international organisation on 1 April, Sangheon Lee, Acting Deputy Director-General for Employment and Social Protection at the ILO, Father Paolo Benanti, President of the Ethics Committee of the Observatory on the adoption of artificial intelligence systems in the world of work, set up at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, Gabriele Fava, President of INPS, and Fabrizio D'Ascenzo, President of INAIL.

The involvement of institutions, businesses, workers and society in the profound revolution that artificial intelligence is bringing to the world of work is reflected in the composition of the afternoon panels, which will take place simultaneously at the event's three locations and also be streamed live. Social partners, business representatives and academics will be invited to discuss future work scenarios. The event will conclude with a reflection on the horizons towards which the use of AI is leading us, by the philosopher Luciano Floridi.

During the event, a multilateral meeting will also be held between the French, German and Italian Ministers of Labour and Employment and the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission.

Two exhibition spaces will be set up specifically for the event, dedicated to technologies already developed for human-centred use of innovation, which can be visited by booking on the website www.aielavoro.it: the "Technology Showroom" at Palazzo Brasini, and three corners dedicated to demonstrations of the SIISL, EDO – Digital Education for Employment and AppLI technology platforms at Palazzo Wedekind.
