The Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Marina Calderone, spoke today at the High-Level Conference on the European Social Charter in Chisinau, Moldova, reaffirming Italy's commitment to strengthening the link between social justice, democratic stability, and technological innovation.

During the first session, dedicated to the "New Democratic Pact for Europe," the Minister emphasized that social and labor rights are the foundations on which Europe has built peace and social cohesion. "The European social model is a strategic resource for a prosperous labor market and a secure investment environment," the Minister stated, while also highlighting persistent challenges such as a gender gap exceeding 10% and difficulties for young people entering the labor market.

In the second session, which focused on the future of work, Minister Calderone addressed the impact of artificial intelligence and the ecological transition. Referring to the G7 Action Plan adopted in Cagliari in 2024, the Minister reiterated the need for a human-centered approach. "The question is not how many jobs will change, but how they will change. We must ensure that no one is left behind." The Minister cited the benefits of AI for productivity and reducing repetitive tasks, but also warned that the use of algorithms poses privacy and ethical risks. In this context, the Minister highlighted Italy's Strategy for AI and Work.

The Minister concluded by reaffirming Italy's solidarity with Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, reiterating that defending human and social rights is a fundamental pillar for resilience and democracy.
