The first meeting focused on the Italian government's measures for inclusion and the fight against poverty. At the ministerial meeting, 15 ministers of labour and social policies and representatives of international organisations discussed strategies for managing immigration flows in individual countries.

"The World Bank has shown interest in Italy's tools for inclusion and combatting poverty", said Minister Calderone. "We are a significant partner for them, and they are crucial for us, especially during this delicate phase of supporting the unemployed and socially vulnerable individuals". She added that along with the World Bank, we are managing "a system that assists municipalities and social workers". This system is designed to increase the effectiveness of assessments during the implementation phase of intervention projects and is regarded as a best practice.

The impact of artificial intelligence on the worldof work was, instead, the focus of the meeting between Italian Minister of Labour Marina Calderone and her US counterpart ad interim Julie Su. During the conversation, the minister spoke about the G7 and the ministerial meeting scheduled for September 2024 in Cagliari. At this meeting, the ageing population and the major issue of skills will also be discussed. "Issues that we have in common with the US and where I have found interest and willingness to contribute to an effective plan of action", remarked Minister Calderone. The minister highlighted the enormous challenge of matching labour supply with demand, emphasising that it can be overcome by redesigning traditional training and increasing female participation in the labour market. "We must push ahead on the issue of skills turnover and retraining" she concluded.
