Existence of different competent authorities in certain sectors

Responsibilities for workers’ health and safety are shared between national authorities, regions, autonomous provinces and local health authorities.
The National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (INAIL) is the institution responsible for accidents at work and occupational diseases.

In the event of identified risks, who should you complain to and what is the procedure?

In the event of identified risks relating to the working environment and/or work activity, the complaint must be forwarded to the local health authority (ASL) responsible for the area.

In the event of an accident at work or occupational disease, the complaint must be submitted to INAIL, the competent public insurance agency.
INAIL provides financial, health, social and supplementary services to workers who are injured or affected by occupational diseases, who suffer accidents at work or contract illnesses caused by their work activity.
