Given that it is prohibited to use young persons for various operations, processes or jobs (set out in Annex I of the aforementioned Law No 977), except in certain exceptions, before using children for work and upon any significant change in working conditions, the employer must carry out a risk assessment with particular regard to:
- incomplete development, lack of experience and awareness of existing or potential occupational risks in relation to age;
- equipment and arrangement of the workplace and workstation;
- nature, degree and duration of exposure to chemical, biological and physical agents;
- manual handling of loads;
- arrangement, selection, use and handling of work equipment, specifically agents, machines, devices and instruments;
- planning of work processes and work performance and their interaction with the general work organisation;
- situation regarding the training and informing of children.
Workers’ information is also provided to those who hold parental responsibility for the children.
