If you want to resign from your job, you will have to follow an online resignation procedure. You can access the procedure online at Servizi.lavoro.gov.it
The authority responsible for the procedure is the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy – Directorate-General for Information Systems, Technological Innovation, Data Monitoring and Communication.
Support is available for users and operators. If you have any questions about how to use the procedure, go to URP online.
You can obtain:
- the SPID by following the instructions on the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) website.
- the electronic identity card (CIE) by following the instructions on the Ministry of the Interior website at: www.cartaidentita.interno.gov.it
Alternatively, you can contact one of the following authorised entities: employers, trade unions, certification committees, bilateral bodies, employment consultants and local offices of the National Labour Inspectorate. In this case, you do not need a SPID or an electronic identity card (CIE).If you contact an authorised person, you will be asked to sign a proxy, produced by the Ministry’s system, before you can submit your resignation.
Once you have signed in, you can access the online form to submit the communication. While filling in the form, you will be asked for some identification details:
- for employment relationships established from 2008 onwards, the system will automatically retrieve the data relating to the most recent mandatory notification of initiation/extension/conversion or rectification.
- for employment relationships established before 2008, you will have to provide some details of your employer, in particular their tax code, the municipality of your place of employment and their email or certified email (PEC) address. In the same online form, you will have to specify the type of resignation you intend to submit, i.e. resignation, dismissal on fair grounds or consensual termination.
Once you have logged in, you or your chosen authorised entity will be able to submit a form for revoking a submitted resignation. All you have to do is conduct a specific search for the form to be revoked, and then submit a statement to say you have changed your mind (you are allowed to withdraw your resignation within a 7-day cooling-off period after the submission date). No additional information is required in addition to what was sent with the resignation.
The submitted details, once confirmed, will be automatically entered in a PDF file. A system-generated email will be sent to the employer and to the National Labour Inspectorate (INL) from the address dimissionivolontarie@pec.lavoro.gov.it.
However, you can see your resignation record at any time by logging into the procedure.
This procedure does not apply to employment relationships with government departments, domestic work, the consensual termination of employment arranged through conciliation as indicated in Article 2113(4) of the Civil Code and in the Certification Commissions or situations requiring validation at the local employment inspectorate (ITL) referred to in Article 55(4) of Legislative Decree 151/2001 concerning working parents.
You have 7 days to withdraw your notification of resignation. The notification is made automatically and takes effect in accordance with the timetable indicated by you during the procedure.
The notification obligation is fulfilled by sending the mandatory notification; no other procedure (for checking or validation) need be carried out by any entities other than those that are obliged and authorised to accept the notification.
The procedure is available in Italian.
